We’ve just attended the annual meeting of the priests and deacons serving the St. Cloud diocese. John Carr, the secretary for World Development and Peace for the US Conference of Catholic Bishops and a graduate of Crosier Seminary here, presented some very balanced and encouraging reflections on the Church’s role in social issues. This was a very timely focus, too, in light of the campaign rhetoric during this election year which makes mention of some popular themes, but leaves many important things unsaid. We’re enclosing a copy of the USCCB summary of their publication, “The Challenge of Faithful Citizenship” in this bulletin, with its 10 questions for the campaign, in the hope that we will participate in the election process in a responsible and faithful way.
